Upcoming Event: Building Community Through Decolonization with Dr. Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnell
(Friday Harbor, WA) September 5, 2023 - Join us for an enlightening presentation by Dr. Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnel on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 PM. She will challenge and expand our understanding of paradigm and perspective through her groundbreaking research on the Evolution of Aloha framework and the Five Phases of Decolonization.
This is a hybrid event, taking place both in-person at the Library and on Zoom. If you wish to attend online, you must register with your email to receive the link. If you plan to join us in person, no registration is required.
Through a personal journey of rediscovery, Dr. G will delve into her ancestry, confront internalized oppression, and provide a roadmap for decolonization. Drawing upon the theories of the colonized mind, she will demonstrate how the events of colonization continue to shape our present and how our everyday choices can pave the way for our future.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and living in Bothell, WA, Dr. G knows what it takes to walk in the two worlds of Indigenous being and Westernized thought with grace and Aloha. She holds a doctorate from the Department of Transformative Studies and Consciousness at the California Institute of Integral Studies and a Master's degree in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University, Seattle. She also received a Social Science major with an emphasis in Psychology and Anthropology from Washington State University.
